"A comparatively rich nose of white grapefruit rind, dried herbs and a pungent grassy greenness leads to a slippery textured palate that's buoyed by crisp acidity." Christina Pickard

1. According to Wine Folly, Sauvignon Blanc is a zesty white grape known for its high acidity, aromatic intensity, and distinctive flavors of lime, green apple, passion fruit, and fresh-cut grass. In cool-climate regions like Marlborough, New Zealand, Sauvignon Blanc expresses vibrant citrus and tropical fruit notes with pronounced herbaceous qualities such as gooseberry and bell pepper. (Wine Folly – The Comprehensive Guide to Sauvignon Blanc).

2. Sauvignon Blanc produced in Marlborough’s maritime climate typically result in crisp wines such as Oyster Bay because the sunny days and cool nights help grapes retain acidity and aromatic complexity. These wines showcase bold fruit flavors, bright acidity, and refreshing minerality, reflecting the classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc style that has become internationally recognized for its freshness and intensity.  Personal Review

When I tasted the Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand, its aromatic and vibrant profile made a strong first impression. The nose was filled with classic Sauvignon Blanc notes—grapefruit, lime, and passion fruit—with a distinct herbaceous quality that reminded me of fresh-cut grass (like the previous New Zealand wine I had) and green bell pepper.

On the palate, the wine was dry and crisp, with high acidity and a light-to-medium body. The citrus flavors carried through clearly, along with green apple and subtle tropical fruit. It had a smooth texture and a clean, mineral-driven finish that made it feel refreshing and focused.

Overall, I found this wine to be a great example of some of my favorite flavors in white wine. It was balanced, expressive, and true to my personal style.

I did not pair this with food.
