"The sweetness is perfectly balanced with a light, fruity flavor that makes it incredibly refreshing. It's not too overpowering, but has just the right amount of strawberry essence that makes each sip delightful. The wine is smooth and easy to drink, whether you're enjoying it on a warm day or pairing it with a light dessert. I especially love how it’s a bit bubbly, adding a fun touch to the experience. This is definitely my new go-to wine for casual get-togethers or a relaxing evening." -Jasmine GI

  1. According to Wine Folly, Muscat is commonly used in sweet wines like Moscato. This grape is recognized for its intensely aromatic profile, as it espressesnotes of orange blossom, honeysuckle, and tropical fruits such as lychee and mango. The grape naturally leans toward low to moderate acidity and a soft, perfumed sweetness that makes it highly approachable for casual wine drinkers. (Wine Folly - Learn About Moscato Wine).
  2. California’s warm climate regions, where Barefoot sources many of its grapes, allow Muscat varieties to fully ripen. This brings out natural fruitiness and even a candied flavor. (Wine Folly: Central Coast Wine).

 Personal Review

I recently tried Barefoot’s Strawberry Fruitscato from Food Lion, and honestly, it was a fun and easygoing sip. Right off the bat, the aroma hit me with super ripe strawberry—like strawberry jam meets fresh fruit. There was also this soft candy-like sweetness that reminded me of those chewy strawberry toffee candies my grandma used to have in a bowl.

Flavor-wise, it’s unapologetically sweet, but not in a heavy or syrupy way. The light fizz gave it a more refreshing lift, making it feel more like a bubbly fruit punch. This is far from a traditional wine. I picked up notes of watermelon and maybe a hint of peach in the background, but strawberry was definitely the star. It's not complex or layered—but it’s not trying to be. It's just fun, fruity, and good for a first Spring day in Blacksburg.

I did not pair this with food.
